Paul Pierce gives away Celtics tickets on Twitter; now he's furniture shopping
Add Paul Pierce's name to the growing list of NBA stars who are fascinated by Twitter.
Already this month, the Bucks' Charlie Villanueva became the first known player to Twitter during a game. Shaquille O'Neal has become a poster boy for the online service.
And now comes Celtics star Paul Pierce, tweeting a promise that he would give away tickets to last night's game to the first five fans, wearing Paul Pierce jerseys, to meet him at the players' entrance to the Boston Garden. Fans were instructed to use the password "Truth"
(Pierce's nickname) when they saw him pull in at 4:30.
According to the blog of one of the fans who was there, web designer and consultant Michael Chace, Pierce showed up in his Range Rover just about right on schedule, asked the 10 or so assembled fans for the password (they all shouted "Truth"
) and what ensued was basically a free-for-all for the tickets.
You can keep up with Pierce's life here, on his Twitter page. His latest post (as of this writing): "Doc gave us the day off today so I think I gonna go look for a new couch."
