| Juco guard signs with Kansas State
Buchi Awaji, a 6-foot-3 shooting guard from Citrus College in Glendora, Calif., became Kansas State's second basketball for the 2008 season.
Awaji averaged 16.5 points and 5.0 rebounds for Citrus, which finished 35-1. He shot 55 percent from the field, including 40 percent from three-point range, a definite area of need for K-State. He was pursued by Nebraska, which offered Awaji a scholarship, and Georgia Tech, which did not.
Citrus College coach Rick Croy said last month, "I know (K-State's coaches) feel confident he can help them." Croy also said Awaji was "a great scorer with really, really good character."
Awaji could not be reached Saturday for comment.
Earlier this week, Hutchinson Community College center Abdul Herrera signed with the Wildcats.
