“With the 29th selection of the 2008 NBA Draft, the Detroit Pistons select Bill Walker, forward out of Kansas State University.” Or at least that is how things are looking in the most recent ESPN NBA Mock Draft.
At 6-foot-6, 235 pounds, Walker could bring upside to the Pistons big men, who are looking to add someone in the middle. As a freshman, he averaged 16.1 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 1.9 assists in 31 games next to teammate and potential top draft pick Michael Beasley.
Atop the ESPN mock draft by Chris Ford are the two freshmen sensations; Derrick Rose projected No. 1 to the Bulls and Beasley going No. 2 to the Heat. Rose, a true point guard out of Memphis led his team to a national championship appearance while Beasley was third in leading scoring in the NCAA. The draft will be Thursday at 7 p.m.
