| Beasley, Abrams win weekly awards in Big 12
Kansas State's Michael Beasley has now done something even Kevin Durant never did — be named Big 12 rookie of the week three weeks in a row.
The 6-foot-10 Michael Beasley was honored Monday after averaging 29 points and 13 rebounds in two victories last week for the Wildcats. He scored 35 points in the 74-59 conquest of Nebraska and followed that with 23 points and 13 rebounds in an 82-61 conquest of Oklahoma State.
He shot 57.5 percent in the two games and set a school record with his 19th double-double.
He's now been named rookie of the week five times. Durant set the record for Texas last year with six.
Texas guard A.J. Abrams was named player of the week. The 5-11 junior averaged 23.5 points in victories over Oklahoma and Iowa State. Abrams is third in the league in scoring with 17.9 points per game.
