| K-State's Beasley scores 28 in first half
The Michael Beasley show is something to see.
Beasley, Kansas State's standout freshman, scored 28 points in the first half Saturday night, helping the 24th-ranked Wildcats take a 44-38 lead over Baylor at the Ferrell Center.
Beasley is on pace to set the Big 12 single-game scoring record of 43, which was accomplished twice. The first was by Texas' Reggie Freeman against Fresno State on Dec. 14, 1996 and later done by Missouri's Clarence Gilbert against Iowa State on Jan. 13, 2001.
Michael Beasley, who made 12 of 16 field goals and had seven rebounds, also scored 28 points in a half this season. It occurred in December in the second half against Winston-Salem State.
Beasley and freshman Bill Walker scored K-State's first 22 points, and 40 of its first 41. The first Wildcat other than Beasley or Bill Walker to record a basket was freshman Ron Anderson on a rebound follow with 50.9 seconds left before the intermission.
The Wildcats shot 56.3 in the first half.
LaceDarius Dunn scored 13 points for Baylor.
