The red-hot Boston Celtics hope to close out a perfect three-game road trip Monday, when they pay a visit to the Memphis Grizzlies at FedEx Forum.
Boston has won 10 in a row and hasn't tasted defeat since November 20 versus the Orlando Magic. It improved to 2-0 on the trek with Saturday's 106-80 bashing of the Chicago Bulls at the United Center, as Rajon Rondo led the way with 16 points and 14 assists.
Rasheed Wallace and Eddie House each had 15 points, while Paul Pierce scored 14 for the Atlantic Division-leading Celtics, who have won seven straight on the road and improved to an NBA-best 11-1 as the visitor this season.
"Some teams came at us, we were down sometimes going into the fourth quarter. We didn't play good tonight, but we still came out with the win,"
said Wallace. "It lets me know that we're fighting hard, we scrap."
Kevin Garnett added 12 points and 10 rebounds in the win.
Meanwhile, the Grizzlies have won four of their last five games and recorded a 118-90 triumph at Miami on Sunday in south Florida. Rudy Gay set career highs with 41 points and 15 field goals, while Marc Gasol posted 16 points and 15 rebounds for Memphis, which got 16 points out of O.J. Mayo.
"We're starting to understand how to play with each other,"
said Gay. "We're all new here, no one's really played together for more than a year. We're starting to know each other's game a lot quicker than a lot of people thought."
Zach Randolph finished with 13 points and seven rebounds in the win. The Grizzlies will put their 6-4 home record on the line Monday.
The Celtics won both meetings with Memphis a year ago and is unbeaten in the last five matchups between the teams. Boston has won three straight after losing its last two at FedEx Forum.
