| Tournament Buzz: Beasley a Naismith finalist
K-State’s Michael Beasley a Naismith finalist
Kansas State freshman forward Michael Beasley was selected as one of four finalists for the Naismith men’s college player of the year award, the Atlanta Tipoff Club and AT&T announced Sunday.
The other finalists are North Carolina’s Tyler Hansbrough, UCLA’s Kevin Love and Memphis’ Chris Douglas-Roberts. The Naismith trophy will be presented April 6 at an awards program at the Final Four in San Antonio.
Don’t mess with Bruce Pearl
Tennessee coach Bruce Pearl spent a few minutes watching Louisville, his next opponent, play Oklahoma before leaving the arena Sunday.
As he left the court, a row of Cardinals fans pointed at Pearl and yelled: “You better be scared! You better be scared!”
Pearl turned, smiled and shouted back: “I better be scared? You better be scared!”
Stanford coach wants to move on
Sounds like Stanford coach Trent Johnson is still feeling a little sheepish about his early ejection from Saturday’s game against Marquette.
Ejected in the first half, Johnson watched from the locker room as the Cardinal won by one in overtime.
“The bottom line was, the responsibility was on me, and I was out of line,” Johnson said. “Just leave it at that if you would, please.”
